Linksys EA9200 AC3200 Tri-Band Smart Wi-Fi Router Review

Linksys EA9200 AC3200 Tri-Band Smart Wi-Fi Router is essentially a tri-band Wi-Fi router, based on the Broadcom XStream 5GHz platform that can push data with great speeds. In fact it can send data to the tune of 1,300Mbp/s along its 5GHz bands, as also 600Mb/s through its 2.4GHz band. By taking advantage of the Smart Connect technology, the router can couple the two 5GHz channels together, thus enabling them to function as two different networks if you so choose. In fact, this router has been here for about a year and the company had sufficient time to fine-tune it well, helped greatly with real-world usage.

Linksys EA9200 AC3200 Tri-Band Smart Wi-Fi Router Design and features

Linksys EA9200 AC3200 Tri-Band Smart Wi-Fi Router is equipped with six antennas, with three of them being internal and the other three external, as also removable. These antennas remain vertical, being attached to a permanent base, and so they can be standing straight and high in their optimum position, enabling the sending of signals down easily.

On its front, The Linksys EA9200 has its lone logo and a bright white LED, although there is a lack of any activity lights whatsoever on the front, with only the Linksys logo visible. Activity lights on the front would have ensured that everything is functioning smoothly, without any hitch.

Connectivity

At the back of the EA9200 there are 1 gigabit WAN port, 4 Gigabit LAN ports, 2 USB ports and power/reset switches. One of the ports is a USB 2.0 designed to connect to a printer, the other being USB 3.0 and meant for the attached storage. At the side, there is a Wi-Fi on/off switch and WPS connect button. Although these USB ports allow you to connect with a hard drive, enabling it to double as an NAS or a media server, it cannot support the Apple Time Machine.

Backend

The Linksys EA9200 is essentially a full-featured fast router that is duly equipped with guest networks, parental control, as well as come with quality after-sales- service. Thus it allows you to effectively prioritize the traffic to selected apps or devices, by means of drag and drop, thereby allowing you to choose three games, devices, or applications in a state of “High Priority.” It is also possible for you to add applications and games manually, in case you know their protocol as well as port range.

The EA9200 will permit you to efficiently create secure guest networks, as also restrict the total number of connections. The parental control feature comes handy to block Internet access during specific times, or block certain websites manually. Like most AC routers the Linksys EA9200 supports a unique technology termed Beam Forming, by means of which this router is able to amplify any signal and direct it to a detected connection, rather than merely sending it out in every possible direction at random.
